I've seen this problem mentioned online twice in the past couple of weeks, neither time with any illustration. The first time that I read it, it took me a moment to realize that the washer referred to was the kind used with nuts and bolts.
I realized that my students would probably react the same way.

This was supposed to be up yesterday -- as the date on the comic suggests -- but it was so late already that I decided to just hold it for Tuesday.
